Crédit Agricole Italia and BlockInvest are working on the tokenization of bonds. BlockInvest is a fintech company that promotes blockchain technology. The collaboration aims to develop a solution for the creation and placement of tokenized bonds and so called “mini bonds”.
The project's goal is to adapt the BlockInvest platform to new regulations and Crédit Agricole Italia's needs for creating and placing tokenized bonds. The entire process will be managed on a public blockchain. Crédit Agricole Italia and BlockInvest have been working together since 2021, when BlockInvest was included in Milano's Le Village by CA acceleration program.
Analyse the impact, then study future scenarios
The project's development will be divided into two phases. During the first phase, the focus will be on co-designing the processes and conducting a functional analysis of the regulatory impacts. The second phase will study future scenarios related to the tokenization process.
DvP, digital euro, on-chain identity
A detailed study will be conducted to analyze possible incremental innovations, such as the introduction of the digital euro, automation of DvP (Delivery Versus Payment), on-chain investor identification (on-chain Identity), and the development of a secondary market for tokenized bonds.
According to Andrea Riva, the Head of Area Capital Market and Open Innovation at Crédit Agricole Italia, “The tokenization of bonds represents a great opportunity to increase the efficiency and accessibility of financial instruments. The collaboration with BlockInvest will allow us to develop a cutting-edge platform that will enable our clients to benefit from this innovative investment method.”
Lorenzo Rigatti, CEO of BlockInvest, comments, “We are excited to collaborate with Crédit Agricole Italia on this revolutionary project. The tokenization of bonds opens up new perspectives in the financial sector, offering greater liquidity and transparency. We are convinced that the solution, already at the forefront of technology, can allow virtuous Italian SMEs to obtain a new form of financing and investors to access this new asset class.”
